CONTINUING strong demand for portable entertainment products and a record order book has led Wolfson Microelectronics to lift its sales expectations for the second half of the year.
Wolfson, headed by chief executive David Milne, said at its half-year results announcement in July - when profit was up by seven per cent £5.3m on sales ahead by 12 per cent to £32.8m - that the market was seeing an increasing demand for its portable products, such as Sony's PlayStation portable games player and Apple's iPod portable music player.
Today, Mr Milne said: "This trend has accelerated into the second-half as some customers experience better than expected demand for their flagship products."
"We entered the second-half of the year with a record order backlog which has translated into good revenue growth in the third quarter," said Mr Milne.
