Eyeing Rs 400 crore turnover in 2006, Canon India today rolled out 43 new products and announced a shift in its marketing strategy to achieve 30 per cent growth during the year.
''Our new go-to-market strategy comprises delayering the distribution channel, retail expansion and creating a value shift as we plan to touch Rs 400 crore in revenue in 2006,'' Canon India President and CEO Alan Grant told a press conference here.
Canon's range of 43 products unveiled today includes 7 digital cameras, 2 digital SLRs, 4 DC camcorders, 2 photo printers, 7 printers, a scanner, 4 AIOs, 5 projectors, a fax machine, a laser MFD, 2 DRs, 4 image runners and 2 LFPs.
''The company expects the products launched today to contribute 30 per cent of the total revenues of Canon India by 2006,'' its Vice President Alok Bharadwaj said.
For achieving 30 per cent growth, Canon will undertake ''value shift'', Mr Grant said, adding that hitherto the focus was on units and entry-level products rather than value share. ''Instead of focusing on low-end products, we will now focus on technology and value for money besides capturing new trends in digital photography, printing, home video and multi-functional devices.'' Canon will also expand national reach to cover 550 towns by increasing the number of retail stores from 107 to 530 besides raising the number of partners and resellers.
As part of delayering, the digital imaging firm will form direct relationships with distributors across the country and select retail and consumer electronic chains, he added.
