The Pentax K10D, Nikon D40x and Canon EOS-1D Mark III are among the cameras scoring victory in this year's Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) awards.
The Nikon D40x (pictured) was named the best entry-level digital SLR, while the Pentax K10D won 'Best Expert' DSLR and the Canon EOS-1D Mark III claimed top spot in the best professional DSLR category.
Accolades also went to the Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd (Best Ultra Compact Digital Camera), Nikon Coolpix P5000 (Best Compact Digital Camera), Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 (Best Superzoom Digital Camera), Samsung i7 (Best Multimedia Camera), Ricoh Caplio GX100 (Best Prestige Camera) and the Olympus µ 770 SW (Best Innovative Design).
Among the lenses to bag honours this year were Nikon's AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF ED (Best Entry-Level Lens) and Sigma's 70mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro (Best Expert Lens).
The HP Scanjet G4050 bagged the Best Flatbed Photo Scanner award. Canon's Selphy ES1 was named the Best Small Format Photo Printer, while the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 won the Best Expert Photo Printer title.
TIPA's favourite new film was Kodak Portra II, while Apple's Aperture 1.5 was judged to be the Best Photo Software and Nokia's N95 was singled out as the Best Mobile Imaging Device.
