Stan Hunter, 74, received the accolade in recognition of his 60-year service to photojournalism, at a ceremony in Glasgow City Chambers last week.
Mr Hunter left school in 1947 and joined the Scottish Daily Express as a ‘bottle shaker' (mixing the chemicals required to produce prints), in a career transcending the history of photography.
Mr Hunter was lured back to the staff side as picture editor of Scotland on Sunday for its launch in 1988 and then returned to freelancing with the Scottish Daily Mail in 1991 until his retirement in April last year.
